How you can overdose PraziPro
You can overdose PraziPro if you add more than the recommended amount in your tank water. To find the appropriate dosage information, you can take a look at this article.
An overdose can also happen if you failed to perform a water change of at least 30% before adding another round of this solution.
Moreover, you can also add too much of this product if you dose more frequently than once every 3 days. Keep in mind that PraziPro is designed to be effective for 5 to 7 days after treatment.
How to tell if you overdosed your aquarium with PraziPro
You can tell if you overdose your tank with PraziPro by looking at the following behavior signs:
- Body twitching
- Head twitching
- Unprovoked darting around the tank
- Gasping for air at the top of the water line
How to fix a fish tank that has been overdosed with PraziPro
If you believe that you overdosed your fish tank with PraziPro, then we recommend that you take the following steps as soon as possible:
1. Start a water change by first removing the tank water from your fish tank.
In terms of how much water you should use, try to calculate it based on how much you overdosed PraziPro. For example, if you used twice the recommended amount, then you need to do a 50% water change to get the concentration back to normal.
If you don’t know how much you overdosed this product by, then you can remove as much of the water from your tank as possible.
2. Next, you can add new water back into your fish tank.
If you are adding in tap water, you will need to use a water conditioner first. Keep in mind that PraziPro does not support sulfur or sulfinite-based conditioners. If you are looking for a compatible product, then you can get the Hikari Ultimate Water Conditioner, which you can find on Amazon with this link. (#CommissionsEarned)
3. You may also want to add more oxygen in your tank if you see your fish gasping for air.
To do so, you can try increasing the water flow along with moving the output nozzle to above the water line to add more surface agitation. Adding and/or increasing the air flow or an air stone will also help oxygenate the water.
4. Adding activated carbon in your filter will also help trap PraziPro. Therefore, you may want to use it during a server overdose.
5. After taking the necessary steps, make sure you observe your fish to see if they are still showing signs of an overdosed.
If they still aren’t doing too well, then you can do more water changes until they, hopefully, calm down.
6. Once they calmed down, you can resume dosing PraziPro by the recommended amount. Keep in mind that you should only add this product once every 3 days at most.
