The Fluval Aquasky 2.0 LED Aquarium Lighting is a smart aquarium lighting fixture that you can use with a smartphone app. You can take a look at this article from Aquarium Blueprints to see how you can update the firmware for this equipment.
Before we begin, it is important to note that this guide will cover the following versions of this product:

1. If you haven’t done so already, put the Aquasky 2.0 lighting fixture on top of your fish tank.
2. You then need to connect the fish tank light to the transformer and then the transformer to a power outlet.
3. With the Aquasky 2.0 turned on, you then need to get the FluvalSmart App.
The application has the following requirements:
- Android smartphone or mobile device running Android 4.3 operating system or newer
- iPhone or Apple mobile device running iOS 9.0 or newer
- Bluetooth 4.0 connection or newer
4. If you have a compatible Android device, then you need to search for and then download the FluvalSmart App from the Google Play Store.
If you have an iOS device, then you need to use the Apple App Store.
5. After installation, open the FluvalSmart App on your smartphone or mobile device.
6. With the application opened, tap the “+” icon to pair your phone or mobile device to the Aquasky 2.0 lighting fixture.
7. Your phone should be able to detect the fish tank light.
If you don’t see the light fixture appear on the screen, then make sure that Bluetooth has been enabled on your smartphone or mobile device.
You can also try moving your phone or mobile device closer to the Aquasky 2.0 to get a better Bluetooth connection.
8. Once the light has been detected, tap the Stop option to close the scanning process.
9. You then need to tap box next to your Aquasky 2.0 to fill the box with a green background that has a black checkmark inside.
10. Tap the red circle with white checkmark inside to complete the pairing process for the Fluval Aquasky 2.0.
11. After pairing and connecting the light fixture, you can finish the rest of the setup to your liking.
If the app asked you for a password, then you need to enter default passcode of 000000. The password can be changed after the initial setup.
12. With the Aquasky 2.0 connected to the application, you have two ways to initiate a firmware update.
If you see a cloud icon appear at the top of the menu, tap it to quickly arrive at the Device Firmware Upgrade menu.
Alternatively, you can also go to the Devices section of the FluvalSmart App. You then need to swipe left on the row that has your Aquasky 2.0. Finally, select the blue Upgrade box to get to the Device Firmware Upgrade menu.
13. Once you get to the Device Firmware Upgrade menu of the FluvalSmart App, you first need to select “Press for Update.”
14. You then need to select “Continue” in the Upgradeable pop-up notification.
15. Next, you should see a countdown starting at 20 seconds.
16. After the countdown ends, select Next to start the firmware installation.
17. Make sure that you don’t use or move your smartphone or mobile device when the new update is being installed.
18. After the new firmware has been installed, select Close to exit.
If the firmware failed to install, then you need to tap “Press of Update.” Afterwards, you need to repeat Steps 13 through 18 to see if the firmware update is successful.
