Seachem Pristine is a product designed to clean up your fish tank. So, is this solution also helpful when it comes to clearing up cloudy water?
You can find out in this article from Aquarium Blueprints.
Quick Summary
If your cloudy water is caused by a bacterial bloom, then Seachem Pristine should help with making the water look clearer.
This product works by adding bacteria in your tank that will break down the organic wastes, which will lead to less ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. With the lack of nutrients available, the bacteria bloom will eventually go away.
Seachem Pristine won’t help with cloudy tank water that has been caused by heavy metals, dirty substrate and/or dirty filter media.
Why your tank water appears cloudy
Your tank water can appear cloudy due to several reasons.
The first potential cause is a dirty substrate and/or filter media. Some of these products will be covered with dust or dirt if you don’t thoroughly rinse them before adding them to your tank.
Another potential cause is the source water you are using to fill your aquarium. If it contains heavy metals, then it may discolor and cloud your tank water.
You can also have too much excess nutrients, which may end up causing a bacterial bloom where their population explodes to the point where they become visible to the naked eye.
