The TetraMin Plus Tropical Flakes does have an expiration date as you should be able to find it printed at the bottom of the container.

After opening the seal on the container, we recommend that you feed all of the flakes of it inside within a six-month period. Furthermore, you should keep the container tightly close when not feeding your fish to prevent the flakes from being exposed to too much oxygen. Otherwise, the flakes will quickly lose its freshness.

Pros

The main benefit of the TetraMin Plus Tropical Flakes is the additional of shrimp to its ingredients. As a result, it makes the smell and taste of the food more appealing to your pet fish. So, if your aquatic pets aren’t interested in other flake food previously, then you might want to give this product a try to see if it will increase their appetite.

As stated above in the guaranteed analysis, the Plus Tropical Flakes is also a good source for protein. Moreover, it should provide crucial vitamins and minerals to help support the health and boost the coloration of your aquarium fish.

The flakes will gradually sink down into the bottom of your tank, making it great for the middle and bottom feeders in your tank as well.

Cons

The only real issue we have with the TetraMin Plus Tropical Flakes is that it can get easily stuck in the glass or acrylic surface above the water line in your fish tank. This is especially true if you have a strong water flow in your aquarium.

Thankfully, you can easily push the flakes down into the water from the glass or acrylic. You can also avoid this problem by dropping the flakes furthermore away from the borders.

Another potential issue is water quality. Because the Plus Tropical Flakes will breakdown into the water column, it shouldn’t leave behind any visible signs of bad water quality. If you don’t have a strong enough biological filtration, however, then this could lead to unforeseen spikes in ammonia, nitrites and nitrates.

To prevent these toxic spikes, we recommend that you remove any visible uneaten flakes you see a few minutes after you drop the food in your aquarium. In the future, try to reduce the feeding so that there will be very little leftovers in your tank water.

Overall

The TetraMin Plus Tropical Flakes is a great product to feed fish you are picky eaters as it contains shrimp smell and flavor. It should also provide a balanced meal.

As long as you keep the flakes fresh and don’t overfeed the food to your fish, then this product is great.
