How to soak API General Cure in fish food

API General Cure is effective against Fish Lice, Gill Flukes (Dactylogyrus), Hole-in-the-head Disease (Hexamita spp. and Spironucleus), Skin Fukes (Gyrodactylus) and Velvet.

What you need to soak API General Cure in fish food

In addition to API General Cure, we recommend that you pick up the Seachem Focus, which is an antibacterial polymer that will bind the General Cure to the fish food.

Furthermore, you might also want to pick up the Garlic Guard, which will make the medicine-soaked food for appealing for your pet fish if they are picky eaters.

Last but not least, it is highly recommended that you used frozen food or pellet food as these will absorb General Cure better when compared to other fish food types.

How to soak General Cure in fish food

Once you have all the necessary products, you can take the following steps to add soak fish food with API General Cure:

1. To begin, use a clean bowl or water container.

2. Add your tank water to the clean bowl or container. Make sure you add enough water so that you will be able to soak the entire fish food.

3. Next, you need to add API General Cure into the bowl or container.

If the powder comes in packets, then you add 1 packet into the bowl or container.

If you have the bulk powder version of General Cure, then you can try adding 2.5 mL, which is around half a teaspoon.

4. You then need to add 1 full scoop of Seachem Focus into the bowl or container.

5. If you have Garlic Guard, then you can add a capful to the mix as well.

6. Finally, add your fish food. You should add as much food as you think your fish is willing to eat for a duration of around 1 minute.

7. After adding all of the ingredients, use a clean utensil to mix them for a minute or two.

8. Next, we recommend letting the mix sit for at least 30 minutes to give plenty of time of your food to soak up General Cure.

9. After waiting at least 30 minutes, dump all of the contents from the bowl or container into your tank water.

10. After several minutes have passed, removed any uneaten food from the tank so that it won’t foul up your water.

11. Repeat these steps again every 2 days until your fish recovers from their internal infections.
