How to get rid of cloudy water caused by Seachem ParaGuard

In order to clear up the cloudy or milky water caused by using ParaGuard, we recommend that you take the following steps:

1. The first step we recommend taking is to look for any signs of stress, which includes the following odd behaviors:

  • Sudden head or body twitching.
  • Darting around the tank seemingly unprovoked.
  • Gasping for air at the top of the water line.

Any of these could be signed of an overdosed or contaminated ParaGuard.

2. If your fish seems to be acting normally, then we recommend that you complete your treatment plan for your fish first before worrying about the cloudy water as their health should be the top priority.

If you are using ParaGuard to treat ich, then we recommend dosing this treatment daily for 14 days in freshwater or 28 days in saltwater.

For velvet, we recommend dosing daily for 21 days.

For fin rot, you should dose daily for 7 days or until the infection clears up.

For flukes, you should dose daily for 14 days or until the infection clears up.

3. Once you are done treating you fish with ParaGuard, we recommend adding activated carbon to your fish tank filter. This chemical filter will get rid of the solution along with other impurities present in your aquarium water.

Over time, the activated carbon should be able to make the water crystal clear in your fish tank.

4. If you want to speed up the process of clearing the cloudy or milky water caused by using Seachem ParaGuard, then we recommend doing partial water changes daily.

Doing so will help further dilute ParaGuard in addition to removing impurities in your tank water.
