On its own, Seachem Prime won’t be able to clear up your cloudy or dirty water. With that said, you can use Prime during daily water changes to add more clarity to your fish tank water.

Will Seachem Prime help with clearing cloudy water?
As a water conditioner, Seachem Prime will remove chlorine and chloramine from your tap water. If you don’t remove these two chemical compounds, then they will likely harm your beneficial bacteria and pet fish.
Another major benefit of Prime is that it is able to convert ammonia, nitrites and nitrates into non-toxic forms for up to 48 hours.
For the uninformed, ammonia and nitrites, which come from the organic wastes in your tank, are extremely toxic to your fish. Nitrates could also end up causing health issues if your tank water gets above 40 ppm (or 20 ppm if you are keeping more sensitive aquatic pets).
Since you are able to safely overdose Prime at up to 5 times the recommend amount, then you can technically add the water conditioner in your fish tank daily until you address your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate spikes.
Seachem Prime will also help detoxify small traces of heavy metals along with helping your pet fish develop a healthy slime coat to protect again any infections.
Unfortunately, Seachem Prime won’t help clear the cloudy water in your fish tank.
How to clear a cloudy fish tank?
If you want to make your tank water look clearer, then you can do small daily water changes. We recommend doing no more than a 20% change over a 24-hour period as doing so will cause less stress for your fish.
If you adding tap water back into the tank, then you can use Prime to remove chlorine and chloramine.
To clarify your tank water, you can also add polishing filter pads in the mechanical filter compartments of your fish tank filter. If you use this material, then it will trap various free floating small particles, which should make your tank water look cleaner. You can also add activated carbon to trap smaller particles from your aquarium as well.
Last but not least, Seachem also has a product that will clear out your cloudy water. Clarity will clump together all the free-floating small particles in your tank water, which makes it easier for your mechanical filtration to pick up.
