The Aquarium Solutions and Hikari PraziPro is used to treat parasitic diseases such as flatworms, flukes, tapeworms and turbellarians. So, does this treatment has an expiration date?

You can find out in this article from Aquarium Blueprints.

Will PraziPro expire?

According to Aquarium Solutions and Hikari, PraziPro will eventually expire.

How to find the expiration date for PraziPro

You will most likely find the best of, expiry and expiration date of your PraziPro at the bottom of the container that the solution came with. For the uninformed, you can purchase this treatment in a 1 fl. oz, 4 fl. oz, 16 fl. oz and 1 gallon container.

The printed date is based on 2.5 years after the date of manufacture.

Can you use PraziPro past the expiration date?

Since you are dealing with already sick fish, we don’t recommend further jeopardizing their health by using an expired treatment. Instead, you should purchase a new container.

How to avoid spoiling PraziPro

In addition to PraziPro expiring, this treatment can also go bad if you spoiled it. To avoid contaminating this product, we recommend taking the following precautionary steps:

1. Keep the cap tightly closed when you aren’t dosing PraziPro into your fish tank.

If you leave the container opened for an extended length of time, then you will expose the solution to evaporation.

2. Leaving the container opened may also lead to contaminants getting inside, causing various issues.

For example, carbon, sulfur and sulfinite will make PraziPro less effective when it comes to treating parasitic diseases.

3. Do not store PraziPro in any other container aside from the one it came with.

4. Avoid storing the container near any heat source. You should also avoid exposing it to direct sunlight as doing so may cause the treatment to rise in temperature.

5. Furthermore, you shouldn’t store the PraziPro container in the freezer as it may change the composition and/or effectiveness of the treatment.

The best practice is to store the container in room temperature.

If you believed that you accidentally added expired and/or spoiled PraziPro in your aquarium, then we recommend that you watch your fish closely. You need to look for signs of stress, which may include twitching, darting and/or gasping for air at the top of the fish tank.

If your fish is reacting badly to the treatment, then you will need to do a major water change as soon as possible. You can also add activated carbon to remove as much of the PraziPro from your tank water as possible.
